You may have heard the name Tank Avenger already. Perhaps a grandchild has talked about it. Here we explain in plain terms what this game is. We also say honestly who it suits and who it does not. There is no score at the end here. You should be able to decide for yourself.

What is Tank Avenger?

Tank Avenger is a game for the Meta Quest. The Meta Quest is a VR headset (a device you put on like a pair of diving goggles). The game uses mixed reality (a blend of your real surroundings and game figures placed into them). So you see your real living room. Little walls, a fortress and enemy tanks then appear on your floor.

Your own tank is only about 9 centimetres long. You look down on the battlefield from above, a bit like looking at a model railway. You walk around the battlefield and steer the tank with the controller (the handset that comes with the Quest). Your aim is usually to defeat all the enemy tanks.

The game has 202 levels (individual sections of play). They are spread across four worlds: Town, Desert, Jungle and Ice. Each world looks different. In the Ice world the tanks even slide, and it snows all over the room.

The game is published by ThreeFlavors LLC and, according to the store, came out on 12 September 2026.

What you need

  • A headset: a Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, Meta Quest 3 or Meta Quest 3S. These are the models the store lists.
  • Clear floor space: at least 1.5 square metres. The makers recommend about 2 × 2 metres. The battlefield always sits on the floor, never on a table or sofa.
  • Internet: the store states that an internet connection is needed.
  • The controllers: the game is controlled with the controllers only. Hand tracking (controlling things with your bare hands) is not described.
  • A little English: the game is in English only. The buttons are short, for example PLAY or SETTINGS.

What it costs

On 10 October 2026 Tank Avenger cost £9.99 in the UK Meta Store. That is a one-off purchase. There is no subscription (no regular payment). According to the store there are no adverts in the game. You earn coins in the game itself, not with real money.

Prices can change. You can always see the current price on the official Tank Avenger store page.

How a round works

  1. You put on the headset and start the game.
  2. A short safety briefing appears. You confirm it with the button ALL CLEAR • LET’S GO.
  3. You choose the area on the floor where you will play.
  4. The first time, a short film plays. In it a toy village on your floor is bombed, and your tank rises from the wreckage.
  5. In the main menu you choose PLAY.
  6. In the first level a short tutorial (a built-in practice session) takes you through the basics: driving, aiming, shooting.
  7. After that you fight. At the end you see your stars and coins.

You can pause a round at any time with the menu button on the left controller or with B. That is handy if the phone rings.

Who is the game good for?

  • For grandparents with grandchildren: the game is rated PEGI 7 (a European age rating: suitable from age 7). The style is colourful and toy-like. However, only one person plays at a time. Others can watch and offer tips.
  • For people who quickly feel queasy in VR: the store calls the game “Comfortable for most”. The camera does not move artificially. You walk around the battlefield yourself.
  • For fans of old video games: anyone who used to play top-down tank games will find their way quickly.
  • For people who like to move about a bit: you walk, bend down and sometimes swing your arm. For example, you use the controller to cut the cable of an enemy drone.

Who is it less suited to?

  • If you want to play together: there is no multiplayer mode. Neither in the same room nor over the internet.
  • If you have no clear floor space: the battlefield needs clear floor area. There is a VR mode with a fixed battlefield in a virtual world. But even there you need room to stand and move.
  • If you want to play entirely sitting down: the store does also list “Sitting”. But the game is designed for you to walk around the battlefield. We cannot promise it works well sitting down.
  • If you want to play without the internet: according to the store, an internet connection is needed.
  • If you do not like English: all the menus and announcements are in English.

Good to know

  • Difficulty: there are three levels: EASY, STANDARD and HARD. On EASY there are clearly fewer enemies. For a start, EASY is a good choice.
  • Safety: the safety briefing appears every time you start. Clear cables, shoes and toys from the floor. Keep pets out of the room.
  • Breaks: take regular breaks, especially at the beginning. If you feel dizzy, take the headset off.
  • Saved progress: your progress, your coins and your upgrades stay saved on the headset.
  • Your own maps: in the CUSTOM MAPS section you can later build your own small battlefields. That is optional.

Our verdict in one sentence

Tank Avenger is a friendly, brightly designed tank game on your own floor, with plenty of short levels and an easy setting to start with. It suits you well if you want to play alone, have some space and like to move about a little.
