Buying and installing Tank Avenger: step by step in the Meta Store
In short
- You can buy Tank Avenger in the headset or in the Meta Horizon app on your phone.
- The game needs about 352 MB of storage.
- On 10 October 2026 it cost £9.99 in the UK Meta Store.
- According to the Store, you need an internet connection.

Getting a new game onto your Meta Quest usually takes only a few minutes. The first time, though, the menus feel unfamiliar. So we’ll go through every step here, one at a time. Our example is Tank Avenger, a tank game that takes place on your own floor.
There are two ways to buy it. You either buy it straight in the headset. Or you buy it on your phone, and the headset then downloads the game. Both ways lead to the same result. Pick whichever suits you better.
What you need
- A compatible headset: Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, Meta Quest 3 or Meta Quest 3S. These are the models the Store lists for Tank Avenger.
- A Meta account: the user account you set your headset up with.
- A payment method: for example a bank card saved in your account.
- Wi-Fi: wireless internet at home. You need it for the download. According to the Store, the game also needs an internet connection after that.
- Storage space: The game takes up about 352 MB. MB stands for megabyte, a unit of storage space. That’s on the small side for a Quest game.
- A charged battery: A download with a nearly flat battery can stop partway.
- For route 2: the Meta Horizon app on your phone. That’s Meta’s official app for the Quest.
What it costs
On 10 October 2026, Tank Avenger cost £9.99 in the UK Meta Store. That’s a one-off purchase, not a subscription (no regular payment). According to the Store, there are no ads in the game. You earn coins in the game by playing. You don’t need real money for them.
Prices can change. The Store always shows you the current price before you pay.
Route 1: buying in the headset
- Put the headset on and switch it on.
- Press the Meta button on the right controller. That’s the flat, round button with the Meta logo. A bar of icons appears at the bottom.
- Choose the Store. The icon looks like a shopping bag.
- Choose the search field at the top. A keyboard appears in front of you in mid-air.
- Type “Tank Avenger” with the controller’s light beam. To aim the light beam, point it at a key and then press the trigger (the button under your index finger).
- In the list, choose “Tank Avenger - Mixed Reality”. Look for that exact name.
- You’ll now see the info page. It shows the age rating (PEGI 7), the supported headsets and the size.
- Choose the button with the price on it.
- Confirm the purchase. Depending on your settings, the headset asks for your PIN (a secret number for purchases).
- The download starts by itself. Wait until it’s finished.
Route 2: buying on your phone
Many people would rather tap on a phone than in mid-air.
- Open the Meta Horizon app on your phone.
- Sign in with the same account as on your headset.
- Open the Store section of the app.
- Search for “Tank Avenger”.
- Open the info page for “Tank Avenger - Mixed Reality” and tap the price.
- Confirm the purchase.
- Then switch on your headset and connect it to Wi-Fi. Usually it installs the game by itself. If it doesn’t, open your library in the headset (the list of apps you’ve bought) and choose “Install” there.
Button names can change slightly with new software versions. The order stays basically the same.
Here’s the official Tank Avenger Store page, in case you’d like to read the details on a computer first.
Your first game
- Clear the floor first. The game takes place on your floor. You need at least 1.5 square metres of free space, and about 2 × 2 metres is better.
- In the headset, open your library and choose Tank Avenger.
- The safety briefing appears, titled SAFETY FIRST. Read the five rules at your own pace.
- Choose the ALL CLEAR • LET’S GO button. It becomes selectable after about a second.
- Then choose the area on the floor where you’ll play. Green tiles are play space. Then choose CONTINUE.
- The first time, a short intro film plays. You can skip it with the menu button on the left controller or with B.
- You’ll now see the main menu. Choose PLAY to start level 1.
Good to know
- Age rating: PEGI 7 (a European age rating: suitable from age 7). The Store lists “Mild Violence” and “Fear” as content notes.
- Language: The game is in English only.
- One person only: There’s no multiplayer mode.
- One purchase, one account: The game belongs to your Meta account. If you delete it, you can install it again later without buying it a second time.
- Release date: According to the Store, the game came out on 12 September 2026. The headset usually downloads updates by itself while it’s connected to Wi-Fi.
If something goes wrong
- You can’t find the game: Just type “Tank” and scroll through the list. Check the spelling.
- The purchase won’t go through: Check your payment method in the Meta Horizon app under account settings.
- The download gets stuck: Check your Wi-Fi. Restart the headset. To do that, hold down the power button and choose “Restart”.
- Not enough storage: Delete an app you no longer use. You can install it again later.
- The game is missing after buying on your phone: Check that your phone and headset use the same account. Then look in your library.
- The game won’t start properly: Check your internet connection. According to the Store, it’s needed.
