Buying a new game can be confusing when you do it for the first time. Here we’ll walk you through buying and installing Laser Thief, calmly. Installing means: loading the game onto your headset so you can start it. There are two ways. You can use your phone or the headset itself. Both lead to the same result.
What you need
- A Meta Quest headset that’s already set up. According to the store page (as of 10 October 2026), Laser Thief runs on the Quest 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3 and Quest 3S.
- Your Meta account. That’s the user account you created when you set up the headset.
- A payment method on the account, such as a bank card.
- Wi-Fi (wireless internet at home) to download.
- Free storage space. According to the store page, the installation needs around 609 MB (megabytes, a unit for measuring data). The game itself is about 377 MB.
- For way 1: the Meta Horizon app on your phone. That’s the companion app for the headset.
What it costs
In the UK Meta Store, Laser Thief cost a one-off £7.99 on 10 October 2026. After that there are no further costs: no subscription, and according to the store page no adverts in the game. The price can change. The store always shows you the exact amount before you confirm.
Way 1: buying with your phone
This way is easier for many beginners. You tap on a familiar screen and don’t have to wear the headset while you do it.
- Turn on your headset and leave it nearby. It should be connected to Wi-Fi.
- On your phone, open the Meta Horizon app.
- Tap the store area (the shop for games and apps).
- Tap search (usually a magnifying glass symbol) and type “Laser Thief”.
- Open the game’s page. Check the list of compatible headsets there.
- Tap the buy button with the price.
- Confirm the payment. Depending on your settings, the app will ask for your PIN (a secret number).
- The app will usually then offer to load the game straight onto your headset. If so, tap Install.
The headset downloads the game in the background when it’s switched on and connected.
Way 2: buying straight from the headset
- Put the headset on.
- Open the store from the menu bar in front of you.
- Choose search and type “Laser Thief”. A keyboard appears in the air for this. You type with the controller or your finger.
- Open the game’s page and choose the buy button.
- Confirm the purchase.
- Then choose Install. A progress bar shows how far the download has got.
You can also find the store page online: Laser Thief in the Meta Store. There you can read the current price and details.
Starting the game for the first time
- In the headset, open your library. That’s the list of all the games and apps you own.
- Select Laser Thief.
- On first start, the game asks for permission to use your room. This means the saved room data, so the lasers end at your real walls. Choose “Allow”.
- The screen “CHOOSE YOUR HEIST SITE” appears. There you choose your room.
- Don’t have a room scan yet (a survey of your room by the headset)? Then choose “SCAN MY ROOM” or “QUICK PLAY”.
- A short intro film starts, then the training with the robot BLIP.
Before you buy: three quick checks
Take a minute before you pay. That way you avoid disappointment.
- Does your headset fit? The store page lists the supported headsets. According to the store page (as of 10 October 2026), these are the Quest 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3 and Quest 3S.
- Do you have enough room space? The store recommends at least 3 × 3 metres of free space. According to the studio, the game also adapts to smaller rooms, then with fewer lasers.
- Can you play standing up? Laser Thief is made for walking around the room. There’s no seated mode. You duck, step over low beams and move sideways. According to the studio, crawling isn’t needed.
If all three answers are “yes”, nothing stands in the way of buying it.
Good to know
- No internet needed to play. According to the store page, Laser Thief doesn’t need an internet connection while you play. That’s handy if you take the headset with you.
- Only one person plays. Laser Thief has no multiplayer mode. But family can take turns.
- Age rating. The store shows PEGI 12. With younger children, think about whether that suits them.
- Language. According to the studio, the menu sets itself automatically to your headset’s language. You can change it under “SETTINGS”.
- Your save data lives on the headset. If you delete the game later, your stars and best times are lost, according to the studio.
- Please take your time. Allow about half an hour for your first evening.
If something doesn’t work
- The buy button is missing or greyed out: Check whether you’re signed in to the right Meta account. Also check whether a payment method is saved.
- The download doesn’t start: Switch the headset on and check the Wi-Fi. The download only runs when the headset is connected.
- “Not enough storage”: Delete a game you no longer use. According to the store page, you need around 609 MB free.
- The game doesn’t appear in the library: Wait a few minutes and put the headset back on. Or restart it once: hold down the power button, then choose “Restart”.
- You bought it by accident: Meta has its own rules for refunds (money back). The exact conditions are in Meta’s help pages.
