How to install MindIsland on your iPhone, step by step

In short

  • You need an iPhone or iPad running iOS 15 or newer.
  • Search the App Store for "MindIsland: Sleep & Meditation".
  • Downloading is free. So is your first meditation.

Installing a new app (that is, downloading it to your phone and setting it up) can feel odd the first time. That is completely normal. In this guide we will go through every step together. By the end, MindIsland will be on your iPhone and open.

MindIsland is a meditation app. It creates short meditations about whatever is on your mind. This guide works for the iPad too.

What you need

  • An iPhone or iPad running iOS 15 or newer. iOS is the basic software on your Apple device. Most devices from the last few years meet this.
  • An Apple ID. That is your Apple account, usually your email address with a password. You set it up when you first set up your iPhone.
  • An internet connection, ideally Wi-Fi (the wireless internet at home).
  • About 63 megabytes of free storage. That is not much, roughly the same as a few dozen photos.

Here is how to check your iOS version: open “Settings”, tap “General” and then “About”. Next to “iOS Version” you will see a number. If it is 15 or higher, you are fine.

What it costs

Downloading the app costs nothing. You get a free meditation to try. After that you need a subscription called MindIsland Premium (you pay regularly until you cancel).

On 10 October 2026, “MindIsland Premium Monthly” cost $12.99 a month in the US App Store. You will see the price in pounds in the App Store before you buy anything. Installing costs you nothing.

Step by step

  1. Open the App Store. That is the blue icon with a white “A” made of strokes. Tap it once.
  2. Tap “Search” at the bottom right. It has a small magnifying glass on it.
  3. Tap the search box at the top. A keyboard appears.
  4. Type “MindIsland”. Then tap “Search” on the keyboard.
  5. Choose the right app. It is called “MindIsland: Sleep & Meditation”. Underneath it says “Personalized AI meditations”. The icon shows a blue lotus flower.
  6. Tap “Get”. Sometimes you will see a small cloud with an arrow instead. That means you have downloaded the app before.
  7. Confirm. Your iPhone will ask for Face ID (unlocking with your face), Touch ID (with your fingerprint) or your Apple ID password. This is normal and costs nothing.
  8. Wait a moment. A circle fills up. After that it says “Open”.
  9. Tap “Open”. You will also find the app later on your home screen, with the blue lotus flower.

The app’s first questions

When you open it for the first time, the app shows a few introductory pages. Take your time reading them. The app is in English.

  • Create an account: the app works with an account. Follow the instructions on screen. Make a note of which email address or method you signed up with.
  • Notifications: your iPhone may ask whether the app can send you notifications. Notifications are small messages at the top of the screen, such as a reminder. Tap “Allow” if you want them. Tap “Don’t Allow” if you don’t. Either is fine. You can change it later under Settings → Notifications → MindIsland.

After that you will see the home screen. There you will find the daily meditation and the “Create meditation” button.

A quick guide to the words on the App Store page

Before you tap “Get”, it is worth a look at the app’s page. There you will find:

  • The name and subtitle. “MindIsland: Sleep & Meditation” and underneath, “Personalized AI meditations”. That means: personal meditations, created with artificial intelligence (a computer program that writes text).
  • The age rating. MindIsland shows “13+”. So the app is approved for ages 13 and up.
  • “In-App Purchases”. That means you can buy something inside the app, such as a subscription. It does not mean you have to pay straight away.
  • Screenshots. Swipe left. The pictures show what the app looks like.
  • The description. Tap “more” to read it in full. It also says there that MindIsland is not a medical device.
  • Privacy. Further down, the provider describes what data the app uses.

Read it all at your own pace. Nobody is rushing you.

Good to know

  • The app is approved for ages 13 and up.
  • The first version appeared on 16 September 2026. The app gets regular updates (improved versions). Your iPhone usually installs them by itself.
  • MindIsland is not a medical device. The app is meant for relaxation and reflection.
  • Your last ten meditations stay on the device. You can listen to them without an internet connection too.
  • Is the text too small? Under Settings → Display & Brightness → Text Size you can make it bigger. Not every app follows this setting fully.

If something goes wrong

  • The app doesn’t show up in search? Check the spelling: MindIsland, one word. Also check that you are connected to the internet.
  • It says “Not compatible” or “Requires iOS 15”? Then your device is too old or needs an update. Look under Settings → General → Software Update.
  • The circle isn’t filling up? Wait a minute. If that doesn’t help, turn Wi-Fi off and on again.
  • Forgotten your Apple ID password? Tap “Forgot password?”. Apple will guide you through resetting it.
  • Deleted the app by accident? Just download it again. You will see the cloud with the arrow.
